31,487 of you signed our Parliamentary e-petition pressurising the Government for urgent regulation around the sale and use of privately owned e-scooters. The petition has now ended (they only run for 6 months) and thanks to your signature, we have got the Government's attention!
On 18th November 2025, Carly, her mum and Jacob Bear travelled to Westminster to meet with Simon Lightwood MP and Mike Kane MP from the Transport Department. Carly was told that the Government is committed to reforming the law and that they will be involving her in the consultation process. This is a huge step in her campaign and it couldn't have happened without your support. THANK YOU!

"After a lot of thought, I feel it is right that I share these photos with the public. Jacob's accident happened at 3.59pm on 19th March 2025. As is normal in this day and age, members of the public started taking photographs of the scene and started posting on social media straight away. I was devastated that this had happened and I managed to get them taken down. But now I feel that these photos will do some good and really highlight how horrific Jacob's accident was. You can see one of his trainers that had flown off lying on the road next to the scooter. You can see the rip to his sock. You can see the paramedics treating him.
Last week, on 14th January 2026, I finally received the clothes and trainers Jacob was wearing back from the police. The clothes my son wore when he left the house for the last time, returned to me in a plastic bag. I want you to look carefully at his clothes. The paramedics had to cut through them to treat him.
These photos bring home the reality and seriousness of what happened. This is the result of Jacob's split second decision to jump on the back of that e-scooter.
Please show these photos to your family, friends and children. This is what happened to Jacob. I don't want it to happen to you or someone you love.
Carly"

Jacob Calland was born on 10th June 2010. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. Jacob loved gaming and football, supporting Manchester United like the rest of his family. He had dreams of travelling the world and working in property.
Jacob was involved in an accident on 19th March 2025, after he made a split-second decision to ride as a passenger on another boy's e-scooter. Jacob spent 8 days in intensive care and died in hospital on 27th March 2025. He was just 14 years and 9 months old.
Jacob’s mum, Carly, had never allowed Jacob to have an e-scooter and had warned him about their dangers. On 9th May 2025, Carly released a harrowing 18 minute film called "Jacob's Journey - Life over Death", documenting in raw detail what happened to Jacob and what she went through after the accident.
Carly is determined to make Jacob's legacy a positive one. She wants to educate parents and young people about the dangers of using e-scooters. She is campaigning for the government to implement tighter laws and regulations around their sale and use.
Watch Carly's film "Jacob's Journey - Life over Death" now. Please note that it contains distressing content.
Greater Manchester Police spoke to Carly about Jacob's Journey, to help raise awareness around illegal e-scooter use.

#NoEmptyChairs - We have launched a campaign warning parents not to buy their children e-scooters this Christmas. Doing so may mean an empty chair next Christmas, in your home or someone else's.
Support the campaign by sharing the video, using the hashtag #NoEmptyChairs
